Pétanque
The Parish Council is considering applying for a grant to build a pétanque/boules facility in the village because:
-
It’s a fun, social game.
-
It’s good gentle outdoor exercise.
-
It’s easy to learn and play.
-
It’s accessible to everyone regardless of age or physical ability.
Pétanque is played by two teams, each comprising one, two, or three players. In the singles and doubles games, each player plays with three metal boules/balls. In triples, each player uses only two.
The area where a game of pétanque is played is called a terrain. A game can be played in an open area such as a public park, where the boundaries of the terrain are not marked, or more formally on a "marked terrain" where the terrain boundaries are marked.

1) Do you know what Pétanque is?
It’s a French outdoor game played between 2 and 6 people in which the goal is to toss hollow metal balls (the boules) and get them as close as you can to a small wooden target ball (the jack). It’s easy to pick up and can quickly grow competitive as you and your friends knock each other’s boules out of play.
2) We want to get an idea of the level of public interest.
Have you ever played Pétanque?
If yes, did you like it?
